Trading Standards and Trade Marks

  • Enforcement of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 and Trade Marks Act 1994 now lies with the Trading Standards departments of Local Authorities. Allegations of counterfeiting and breaches of copyright carry severe penalties and are now vigorously enforced. In an ever increasing technologically advanced age it can be very easy to fall foul of these laws without any intention of doing so - if you are being investigated or prosecuted speak to our specialists in this field.

Food Safety and Environmental Health

  • Enforcement of the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990 also lies with Local Authorities. This may include issues of hygiene in food retail outlets or restaurants, contaminates to food stuffs or defects in the manufacturing processes of food.
