The Children’s Law Team is headed by Pauline Troy who is the Senior Partner of the firm, the Head of the Family Law Department and an experienced member of the Law Society’s Children’s Panel and a Solicitor Advocate (Higher Rights Civil Proceedings).
The Team specialises in all work related to child protection, children in care and adoption, and if you are a parent or a person with parental responsibility most of this work is conducted on a publicly funded basis regardless of your means and is therefore free of charge. These cases can often arise on an emergency basis with hearings fixed on the same day that the initial enquiry is received. We are used to working under emergency conditions and will respond to any such enquiries by organising representation in Court regardless of how little notice is received. Accordingly, if you have a problem with social services involvement with your children we are happy to assist at any stage of the process.
We can assist with the following legal issues:
- Disputes with Social Services on behalf of parents, children or other family members;
- Child protection;
- Child abduction;
- Disputes between parents (including same sex partners) relating to all aspects of the arrangements for their children following separation;
- Grandparents’ relationships with grandchildren following family breakdown
Clients who are not eligible for a free service may be offered a one-off introductory advice session on a fixed fee basis to establish their basic legal position in the context of changes to their family and to establish any future funding should the client wish to proceed.
